Speaking during Assembly proceedings on Thursday, led by Muthetheni MCA Leonard Katela they stated the mode of allocation had caused massive loses previously.

"We do not agree with the decision by the treasury and Ward Development Committee to start sending bursary funds to school accounts as this has caused millions of losses in the past," said Katela.

On the contrary, the MCA suggested individual students should be issued with checks after being interviewed and Ward representatives ensuring they are the right beneficiaries.

"If the students are not individually issued with the checks, we will witness school fees delays and a lot of corruption in the schools with bursaries being misused," he added.

Among other MCAs who opposed the decision is Mwala MCA Justus Kimata and his Masii counterpart Charles Nguvi.
