Speaker of the Machakos county assembly, Florence Mwangangi is under pressure to take the gubernatorial position.
Chama Cha Uzalendo party, Mwala sub-county coordinator Raphael Kyalaani said the county is in limbo since the Court of Appeal nullified Governor Alfred Mutua's August 8, 2017 election's victory.
Kyalaani said the speaker should temporarily take over the position so as to fix pending issues in the county.
"The county is in turmoil, the Court of Appeal called for by-elections meaning we don't have a governor now. The speaker should move with haste and take the governor's position," Kyalaani said.
He said the nurses' strike in the county should be immediately addressed.
The strike has been ongoing since the beginning of this week.
However, Mwangangi is still reluctant in taking the position unless she makes legal consultations concerning the issue.
Despite the pressure, Mutua has promised not to budge from the position claiming that the MCAs have taken 'blood money' to oust him.
" If you think you scare me, you just motivate me more and more. Know the money you 'ate' you will pay for it one day," Mutua told the MCAs.
