Nyamira County Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo has been warned against misusing his powers while his boss is away.

A section of Nyamira County MCAs said they will not tolerate Nyaribo if he tries to mess up with the county leadership.

The MCAs led by Gesima ward MCA Charles Maroko and his Manga counterpart Enock Ogori said Nyaribo has no authority to demand for money from the county to launch projects using the backdoor.

“Nyaribo has proved to be a self centered leader who may be interested to embezzle county funds because Governor Nyagarama is away.

"No money is going to be approved for Nyaribo to claim that he want to launch a project. The finance committee should sit down and discuss before the assembly approves any funds to be released as this will help the county to prevent unnecessary expenditure,” said Maroko.

Maroko who doubles as the finance committee chairman at the assembly warned other MCAs against taking advantage of Nyagarama’s absence to embezzle public funds.

Ogori stated that the MCAs will be on high alert to ensure no county worker is sacked by Nyaribo before he lacks the authority to do so.

“Nyaribo is not authorized to sack or hire any workers. We will be watching him closely and if he messes up he will not escape because we will impeach him,” said Ogori.
