Nominated MCAs complained that they do not get funds allocations yet they have special groups that they take care of.

For the first time, the Executive allocated Sh5 million for the 14 nominated leaders, where each will get Sh340,000 per year and Sh30,000 per month.

However, this was not enough for the nominated MCAs who caused a stir at the chambers demanding that the Sh6 million allocated for the Speaker’s car be slashed and be channeled towards their kitty.

“I am very sure our Speaker has a car, therefore, there is no need of getting her a new car at the expense of nominated members,” said nominated MCA Bob Ndolo during a debate on a report on the 2016/2017 budget which was tabled by Budget and Appropriations Committee Chairman Willis Ogonyo.

The Motion to amend the report and have the allocations adjusted was moved by Faridah Salim.

“It is so humiliating when members of your ward camp at your house asking for help yet there is no money to assist them,” Ms Farida told the House.

The leaders later got a reprieve after the County Assembly Service Board intervened and increased the amount by Sh10,000 to Sh40,000.
