A section of Uasin Gishu Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) have said that Governor Jackson Mandago must implement Sh1.2 billion allocated for Ward development.
Led by the Majority leader Josphat Lowoi, the MCAs say that they need the funds to spearhead development at their various Ward levels.
Speaking at the County Offices in Eldoret on Thursday, Lowoi said that governor Mandago signed the budget that allocated Sh1.2 billion for development in the Wards and that he must implement the budget.
He said that the matter was deliberated upon during the budget making process and agreed upon by the county assembly.
“It is unfair for governor Mandago to say that he will not disburse Sh1.2 billion for development in Wards yet he signed the budget that allocated for that,” he said.
Mr Lowoi said that MCAs will push for the allocation since it was approved in the 2015-16 budget.
In the 1.2 Billion allocated for Ward development each ward was to get Sh 44 Million.
On Wednesday, Governor Jackson Mandago termed the ward development proposal as unrealistic and unworkable. He said that the Wards are not the same and that their was now way they could share resources equally.
Mandago further said that development projects were being initiated at all the wards.
He says that the county government will spearhead development in all Wards without discrimination so that all people get equal resource allocation.
