Days after tabling a motion to impeach Governor Evans Kidero, Nairobi MCAs have now signed a petition to send Speaker Alex Ole Magelo home.

Magelo has been accused of failing to protect the dignity, honour and respect of the ward representatives in the capital city.

Makongeni ward representative, Peter Imwatok is the sponsor of the censure motion.

"We are concerned that the speaker has failed in his duty as enshrined in the constitution to protect the dignity, honour and respect of this assembly," the motion reads in part.

The motion will be required be signed by one-third of the 127 MCAs for it to be approved for debate the speaker.

Last week a motion to impeach Kidero was tabled in the assembly during in a chaotic session.
