A section of Kiambu Members of County Assembly (MCAs) spearheading the impeachment of Governor William Kabogo are complaining of being intimidated.
Addressing the press at Thika town on Monday, the MCAs claimed that they are being intimidated to drop the impeachment motion.
Led by the Limuru Central MCA Joseph Murugami, they claimed that they have been receiving threats.
“We have been receiving threats from certain quarters to drop the impeachment motion against Governor Kabogo,” he said.
Murugami said that they will not be intimidated by anyone in their quest to have Kabogo impeached.
He said that their reasons to have Kabogo sent home are constitutionally valid and that they will not be threatened.
Muragumi alleged that some politicians allied to Kabogo have been using goons to harass and intimidate MCAs supporting the motion.
Ngewa MCA Karungo Wa Thang’wa said that they will not stop until Kabogo is impeached. They are accusing him of failing to respect and honour the senate summons on accountability queries.
“The constitution allows us to start the impeachment process against the governor or any leader in the county,” he said.
The MCAs tabled the impeachment motion in the assembly on Monday and the assembly is expected to debate it on Thursday.
According to Muragumi, at least 30 MCAs support the motion.
