Uasin Gishu County Assembly has gone for a 12-day recess.
The recess period is meant to give time to the Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) to meet their electorate.
Speaking after moving the motion to adjourn the house, Leader of Majority Josphat Lowoi said the recess period is crucial since it will help the MCAs to inspect development projects in their respective wards.
"It's sad that there are some MCAs who don't know what is happening at the grassroots where they were elected, because they rarely visit their areas, forcing their electorate to look for them in their offices," he said.
The motion was supported by the assembly Chief Whip and MCA of Ngenyilel David Singoei.
Singoei said the recess is important since the MCAs will be able to listen to problems their electorate are facing, and thereafter pass legislation that will address the issues.
"It's out of order to always see people from the grassroots lined up at the county assembly offices looking for MCAs, during this period they should use their offices at ward levels to assist their people," he said
The motion was overwhelmingly supported by the MCAs and the house was adjourned.
It will resume its sittings on April 12, 2016.
