The most contentious issue in this supplementary budget is the proposal by both Kiambu Governor William Kabogo and Nguli to purchase 72 vehicles for sub county and ward administrators.

Nguli addressed the press this morning at Thika town, saying that the supplementary bill would be beneficial and that she has urged the MCAs to pass the bill into law.

The county executives argue that these ‘fuel guzzlers’ will also perform other duties relating to security interventions especially when members of the public call for help from police and are not able to get assistance due to lack of fuel.

‘To buy or not to buy?’ is the question MCAs are expected to answer this afternoon during the Kiambu parliament proceedings. Nguli says that if the bill is not passed then Kiambu will have lost such a rare asset in the county.

Ngewa MCA Karungo wa Thang’wa had publicly clashed with Kabogo over the same issue, which incensed the governor into shouting down the MCA during his speech.

The MCA told the governor to get his priorities right and the county needed water, land and education first, not the vehicles which he saw was only a way to allegedly squander the tax payers money.

However, the finance CeC believes the bill will go through and that only malicious leaders were the ones blocking the development Kiambu needs.
