Uasin Gishu Members of County Assembly (MCAs) have been urged to play their oversight role strictly by ensuring every cent is put to good use.

Speaker David Kiplagat said they should ensure that money allocated to projects in their wards is used without embezzlement.

"Through the oversight, there will be transparency and accountability thus corruption will be a thing of the past," he said in Eldoret town, Monday.

"It will also put the executive on toes by ensuring that projects that the projects conducted are of required standards and as per the money paid," he added.

He, however, urged the MCA's to use their long recess time by working for the electorate since politics is now gone.

He challenged Uasin Gishu residents to always ensure that their funds are well spent by their MCAs, by always inspecting the projects and also asking them questions whenever they feel there is misappropriation.
