The MCAs call comes a day after Governor Kinuthia Mbugua admitted that a blotted workforce at the county government was one of the biggest problem the county was facing.

Speaking at the County Assembly the MCAs, led by Majority Leader Waithuke Njane, said that it was ironical for the government to continue advertising for vacancies while at the same time still complaining of a blotted workforce.

“The governor has just admitted that we have a blotted workforce and this is why the county is spending so much money on salaries and less on development,” said Njane.

The MCAs say that they wonder why the government continues to hire more people at a time when it should be downsizing its staff.

“We want the government to stop any further hiring of county staff unless it is very essential and urgent,” added Njane.

House Minority Leader Daniel Ambale said that the county government should find a way of sending home workers who are less needed as one way of reducing the recurrent expenditure.

“The government must carry out an audit of its workers and establish which workers are less needed by the county,” said Ambale.

Governor Mbugua had said that the county’s workforce will not be reduced because of the expenses.
