The county government of Uasin Gishu has been challenged to automate payment of parking fees for vehicle owners in Eldoret town.
Speaking during the assembly's debate on governors speech on Tuesday, nominated Member of County Assembly Jenny Jebet said automation of parking fee payments will ensure efficient service delivery.
"Many people waste a lot of time looking for parking attendants so that they can pay the required fee but with automation that will be a thing of the past," noted Ms. Jebet, daughter to former powerful politician, the late Mark Too.
"Automation will also reduce chances of corruption in the sector subsequently improving on county's revenue," she added.
On his part, Tembelio MCA Pius Kigen asked the county government to consider introduction a universal sponsorship program that will cover students studying in any public institutions.
He said the current program in which the county is sponsoring 60 students per ward to study technical courses at the Rift Valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI) is discriminating.
Cheptiret/Kipchamo MCA who also contributed to the governor's speech called for the allocation of sufficient funds that will facilitate road maintenance across the county.
The MCAs will on Wednesday afternoon conclude debating on the speech which he delivered during the official opening of the Second County Assembly of Uasin Gishu.
