The members wanted Adul to step aside and solve her continuing  court of Appeal case on corruption charges.

The motion to have her step aside was moved by Nominated MCA Jane Omollo.

Omollo said that in line with section 631) of the Anti Corruption and Economic Crime Act 2013 and chapter Six of the constitution of Kenya 2010 on Leadership and Integrity, it is not possible for Adul to continue serving as the speaker of the assembly and the chair of the Assembly Service Board.

“Madam Speaker I therefore request this honorable house to resolve that Ann Atieno Adul do step aside until her case is determined as provided by the said letter, “she said.

Members supporting the motions as other accused her of frustrating the assembly.

She was also accused of demanding Sh 14 million which she said were the dues accrued during the time she was suspended.

Onjiko/Awasi MCA Fanuel Aim told the house that the speaker had written a memo to the clerk demanding such amount to be paid.

“The speaker even wants the assembly to pay her Sh1.1 million as legal disbursement said in the assembly on Tuesday.

The motion was adapted by the assembly and debating as the Deputy Speaker Pamela Omino directed that the clerk and the Sergeant-at-arms to enforce the above resolution.

She said “It should be clear that nobody has suspended the speaker but she has been told to step aside until her case in court is determined,".
