Kwale Members of the County Assembly have told Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi to refrain from the county’s affairs.

The MCAs said the ODM deputy governor’s frequent trips to foreign counties could cause tension and even spark violence ahead of the August general elections.

The MCAs, mostly allied to Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya, were led by Juma Masudi of Ndavaya ward and Anthony Yama (Kaemeni).

They asked the governors to stick to their areas of jurisdiction to ensure peace prevails.

"Governor Joho and Governor Kingi’s (Kilifi) visit to Kwale or other counties is likely to create bad blood among residents of the various counties," Masudi said.

They said the ODM leaders’ visits to Kwale could provoke residents who have shifted allegiance to the Jubilee Party.

This comes after a rally led by Joho, Kingi and Taita Taveta Governor John Mruttu was disrupted by rowdy locals.

A section of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders from Kwale accused Governor Mvurya of orchestrating the disruption.

Mvurya, who decamped from ODM to Jubilee, denied the allegations.

"Governor Mvurya is not the county commissioner, OCPD or a member of the security organ. I don’t have power to order the police to stop any rally," he said.
