The National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga intensified raids on his main opponent President Uhuru Kenyatta's turf has borne fruits after a number of members of Kiambu County Assembly decamped to the Opposition.
Samuel Ng'ang'a Nyambura, Gituamba ward MCA from Gatundu North constituency, led six sitting MCAs and aspirants to Raila's NASA and promised to vigorously campaign for the Opposition leader in the vote-rich Kiambu County.
Others MCAs who defected to NASA include: Erick Mbugua Mariga (Kihara), John Magua (Karai), Evanson Kanithi Kinuthia (Kinoo), George Gitau Wambui (Gatong'ora) and Mwangi Wa Mwangi (Hospital).
While receiving the group on Monday, Raila said his goal is to dismantle tribal webs that have characterised politics in the country for many years.
“My government will accommodate all Kenyans regardless of their tribal affiliations so that the citizenry view themselves as Kenyans and not members of different communities,” said the ODM leader.
The former Prime Minister said NASA represents all communities in the country.
"It is time for change. NASA will campaign in Kiambu, Muranga and Nyeri since we represent the face of Kenya," he said when he received the defectors in Nairobi.
The Opposition's campaign rally in Kiambu County today (Tuesday) starts at Limuru, transverse through 8 out of 12 constituencies and finally end at Githarui 45, Ruiru.
