[Photo/ David Omwoyo]The Media Council of Kenya is in the process of introducing more regulation aimed at cushioning the industry from the threat of fake news.Victor Bwire, the Deputy Chief Executive, said that the council was concerned that some mainstream stations were reporting fake news thus putting the profession of losing its credibility.''The new regulations will obligate media organisations to develop internal mechanisms of guarding against the threat of fake news. Journalists in the country will be thoroughly trained on how to identify fake news,'' he said.The Media Council of Kenya is constitutionally tasked with the responsibility of regulating the media industry and ensure that they conform to required standards as stipulated by law.
