Residents of Arash farm in Subukia woke up to a carcasses of donkeys which were apparently slaughtered at night.
Kamau Chege, a resident, said he woke up to find his donkeys missing only to stuble upon the carcasses.
“The donkeys were what supported my livelihood. I used to do water selling business with them and now I am left with nothing to run my business. I am deeply hurt,” Kamau said.
Apart from losing his animals, the farmer had more problems.
“I will be forced to look for money to refund the buyer of the donkey yet I have no resources. It is a very big blow for me,” he painfully remarked.
It is suspected the animals were slaughtered by dubious butchers who sneaked the meat into the Subukia, Nakuru or Burma market in Nairobi.
Meat lovers have been warned against buying flesh which has not been inspected by health officers.
