A Naivasha town based mechanic has been sent to jail by a court in Nakuru to serve three years after he was found guilty of using his mobile phone to send abusive and offensive messages to his former wife. The hearing of the case had recorded that on April 12 and 13 this year at an unidentified location, the accused Daniel Njoroge,36, sent abusive language and offensive messages using his mobile phone gadget to Milka Waithera who was his wife about a year ago after he had found her with another man she told him was her lover at a hotel in Naivasha town on April 11. The prosecution told presiding Chief Resident Magistrate Patrick Mwaniki that the messages that partly described the complainant as “a pig prostitute and thief” were highly abusive and offensive. The prosecution further noted that such trends were on the increase and ought to be stopped through inflicting a heavy punishment to the accused. In mitigation the accused had claimed that though the complainant was not his legally abiding wife he had stayed with her for more than two years where he was the sole provider of food, shelter, clothing and other basic needs and that he felt hurt and offended after she deserted him for another man.
