The Media Council of Kenya is planning to roll out a plan where veteran journalists will be used to train and nature upcoming journalists as a way of enhancing journalism standards in the country.

Media council CEO David Omwoyo said they is concerned about the failing professionalism in the industry.

He said veteran journalists who made a name out of their career will play a great role in coaching the young crop of journalists about the need of keeping standards and remaining professional in their work.

Speaking in Nakuru, Omwoyo said young journalists have a lot to learn from the veterans who he said accomplished a lot during their time.

He said the dynamics of journalism are changing hence the need to train young journalists on how they can remain and stay relevant in the industry.

At the same time he called on media houses to exercise self censorship and  always give public good a priority before broadcasting or publishing any content.
