An attempt by the media to get into the house was blocked by the house security agencies without a proper reason as to why.

After journalists persuaded and got there by force, the committee members led by nominated URP MCA Peninah Sotum threatened to adjourn the seating.

Committee chairman Joseph Langat who pleaded with the members to allow the media personnel into the meeting was unable to convince the team even after reading the county assembly’s standing order act 227/228. The members insisted it was not fair to discuss corruption matters in the presence of the media.

Nominated MCA Catherine Waweru who was the only committee member in support of the media was opposed by the fellow members. They threatened to chase her away together with the media.

"If we are discussing matters of the public, why should we deny them from covering the meeting? The general public wants to know how Sh 600 million was used by the county health department," Waweru said as the disagreement continued.

Members of the press were chased outside and told to wait as they would be briefed after the meeting.

This comes two days after Nakuru West and Bahati MPs alerted the public of the misappropriation of Sh 600 million by the Nakuru County government. The two MPs have vowed to enlighten the public and fight for the accountability of the money.
