Director of Human Resource Management and Development, Ministry of Health David Njoroge, has urged medical colleges to start offering nephrology and oncology courses.

He said there is a huge shortage in the country forcing Kenyans to seek their services abroad.

“As I am talking now the Country has only 10 and countable nephrologists the number of patients is high. Colleges should start offering nephrologists and oncologists courses to bridge this gap,” he said during the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital School of Medical Service 7th graduation ceremony, Friday.

“They should advance their training to cover specialties by reviewing teaching curriculums to meet the current job market and also enhance quality and not quantity education,” he added.

He, however, called upon medical institutions to ensure they offer courses that have been accredited to avoid situations where students study courses that they will tarmac for the whole of their lives.
