The Association of Kenya Medical Laboratory Scientific Officers (AKMLSO) is now calling for amendment of the recently enacted health bill.
AKMLSO National Executive Chairman Michael Abala Wanga says the amendment will ensure all medical professionals interests are fully catered for.
Addressing the press at the Boma inn hotel in Eldoret town during the opening of the Association's Scientific Conference on Wednesday, Abala said the current health bill favors only doctors.
"We are seeking for the amendments because there are specific areas not addressed in the bill. The bill as it is now has a lot of regulatory councils that has over representation medical doctors," Abala said.
"All we want is the interests of all stakeholders in the health sector to be fully catered for in the bill," he added.
Similar sentiments were shared by AKMLSO deputy National Executive Chairman Safari Kiith who reiterated the need for all health practitioners to be equally represented in regulatory councils established under the Health bill.
"The bill demands that top oversight authority officers must be medical doctors and this is one of the thing we need to change because all medical practitioners should have equal chances to be in top leadership position," Kiith said.
