Medical practitioners within Kisii County have applauded Care-Kenya’s initiative to reduce HIV/AIDS and TB prevalence through a two-day-training programme.

Care-Kenya Programme Officer Hellen Gwaro said during the training that the training is majorly aimed at sensitising locals about pandemic diseases.

Care- Kenya is a Non-Governmental Organisation dealing with sensitisation of the public and medical practitioners on HIV/AIDS and TB pandemic which, according to Gwaro, research shows is on the rise in Kisii County.

Addressing the press, Gwaro said that Care-Kenya is a humanitarian organisation which bridges the gap between affected persons and the medical practitioners.

“We as Care-Kenya have stepped in to bridge the gap between those who are affected and medical practitioners, whereby we partner with county health management to reduce the ever escalating number of HIV/AIDS in Kisii County,” said Gwaro.

Care-Kenya has made nobble impacts on medical sector since it has been supporting some hospitals in the area with financial assistance and medical facilities to help reduce the hiking prevalence rate HIV spread which stands at 8% in Kisii.

Medical institutions within the county sent  at least three representatives for the training.

Care-Kenya is supported by CDC Pefa, and has applauded the county government for being in the front line in fighting such ailments.

Locals have been urged to always feel free to be tested at various VCT Centres available in the region.

Alice Nyaboke, nurse at Hema Hospital, expressed her pleasure for a wonderful training Care-Kenya initiated saying that the move will achieve a positive results.
