Kiambu County Health CeC John Mwangi has indicated that provision of medical services in many hospitals in the county has been hampered by the ongoing medics strike.

The strike started two days ago as the medics sought better terms.

Speaking at Kiambu town today, Mwangi told journalists that the medics have downed their tools to press for salary increments among other things like working conditions that they have been complaining of.

He has however assured Kiambu residents that they are doing their best to ensure that services resume to normal.

"I would like to bring to the attention of the Kiambu people that our consultants are really working hard to bring services to the required standard acceptable in our county," Mwangi said.

Mwangi has added that services are being offered as usual in some major hospitals.

"Our medical interns are continuing as usual with their work in our major twelve hospitals," he added.

However, a spot check at Gatundu Hospital revealed that the interns are also on a strike in solidarity with the medics.
