Health workers in Nyamira County have threatened to down their tools if the county government does not address their grievances.
According to the medics, the county government has not addressed their issues on promotions, hiring of more workers, and threatened to go on strike at the end of the month to compel it to respond to their grievances.
Speaking on Sunday in Nyamira town, the county health workers secretary Richard Nyamache said if the county government doesn't improve the sector, then the only option left to them will be a strike.
“We want the health sector in this county to be improved in all departments if not, we will go on strike at the end of this month so that our grievances can be heard and addressed,” said Nyamache.
“We want promotions, additional staff and those who have been working under contracts to be hired permanently among other issues,” he added.
They also urged the county government to equip all government hospitals with enough drugs to save some patients who have to be sent to private pharmacies to buy them.
