Doctors and nurses in Nyamira County have been warned against smuggling drugs meant for public consumption.
Nyamira County Governor John Nyagarama on Thursday said any medical staff found culpable will be arrested and prosecuted.
“We will not allow some self centered medical staff to frustrate efforts of my government to provide quality medical care to our people," said Nyagarama.
Nyagarama noted that his administration has invested more in the health sector and urged employees at the public health centers to utilize the available resources to offer good medical care.
He said the county will purchase more hospital equipments, pay workers well and in time to curb unnecessary strikes.
“Modern hospital equipments will be purchased once the County Assembly approves the 2018/2019 budget.
"Workers will get good pay and in time because my administration doesn’t wish to see doctors and nurses going on strike to paralyze operations at the public health centers,” said Nyagarama.
