This year Kenya's Harambee stars will not be playing at the World Cup again after failing to notch a place in the qualifications to Russia.
This means Kenyans will only have to watch the tournament from their screens at home and perhaps some might even get the opportunity to go watch live in Russia.
That aside do you know that one Kenyan have ever played and even scored a goal in the competition?
Divock Okoth Origi was the first Kenyan to ever grace the competition as a player and got himself into the score sheet at 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
On May 13, 2014, Origi made into Marc Wilmots 23-man squad after having a successful season at Lille meaning that he had to opt out his future plans of representative Harambee stars.
He made his first senior national team appearance for Belgium on 17 June coming on as a substitute for Romelu Lukaku in the 58th minute against Algeria in an opening game in Group H in Belo Horizonte.
In the next game after coming on for Romelu Lukaku against Russia, Origi scored the whole important goal in the 88th minute making him the first ever player of Kenyan Origin to score at the tournament.
Origi also became the youngest goalscorer in Belgium World Cup history only aged at 19 years, 2 months and 4 days.
In that year also, Origi was named the Young Talent of the 2014 Belgian Sportsman of the year awards.
Origi who is in the country for holidays after missing out at this year's World Cup in Russia have over the time repeatedly expressed that he is proudly being a Kenyan citizen, thanks to the 2010 constitution which allows dual citizenship.
