At 19 years, girls are usually already noticing changes in their bodies and conventionally, at this age, they are out experimenting on sex.

However, this is not the case with 19-year-old Nicole Njuguna who is a Purpose and Sexual Purity Ambassador at Daystar University.

She is pursuing a degree in Electronic Media and Public Relations and has promised through her program popularly known as 'Worth The Wait' to encourage young people not to engage in sex until they get married.

She says her calling came when she had sex at the age of 18 and was hit by a Sexually Transmitted Infection. This shocked her as at that age those are not the kind of things she should be handling.

"I normally wish I would have waited to have sex in marriage but once milk is poured, that’s it so, like just wait," she said during an interview as quoted by Radio Jambo.

Health organisations say that girls today would prefer getting infected with an STI including the deadly HIV/Aids virus than getting pregnant because they fear how society will judge them as they also fear early responsibilities of raising children.

Nicole Njuguna has held a series of mentor-ship talks at Daystar University as well as other places. She says youth age is "sweet and beautiful" but young people should not abuse that beauty.
