John Paul Mwirigi has surprised many by clinching the Igembe South Parliamentary seat, after successfully running as an independent candidate.

Going by the provision results provided by the IEBC, 24 year old Mwirigi was in the race for the seat, leading Jubilee Party candidate Josephy Miriti.

He will become the youngest member ever to make it to parliament if announced the winner

In his campaigns, Mwirigi had promised Igembe people to supply water, build roads and invest in education given how tough it was for him to get an education.

He employed door to door campagins, meeting the people to convince them why he is the right candidate for the job.

Mwirigi is an orphan who attended a day school through the help of well-wishers.

Meru County previously produced the youngest MP Boniface Gatobu in the 11th parliament, elected in 2003 at the age of 26 in Buuri constituency.
