After losing a lot of money to Black market dealers and also through the break-ins into the coffee factories where the coffee beans are stolen, Omari decided to try the bananas. He planted 50 stems of bananas.

From his small farm, he could sell one to five bunches per month in the year 2016, and as more suckers sprout, the number of bunches per month increased to 50 hence giving him every reason to smile.

"After being frustrated by the coffee farming, I decided to try out banana farming. I started with 50 stems. I could sell 1 to 5 bunches initially with the number escalating steadily to 50 bunches in a month." Omari said.

Omari sells his banana to the ready market easily as the buyers move into the village looking for bananas. A small bunch fetches Sh.400 and a big one fetching Sh.800.

Among the types of the bananas he grows, include the "Ekegusii" and "ng'ombe". "Ekegusii" type is small with many fingers while "ng'ombe" has fewer fingers but long.
