Kipkirui Shadrack, a 22-year-old student from Egerton University is a young ambitious man who has gone against all odds to be independent.
"I feel it is bad for a grown up man like me to call home every end month to ask for rent, I decided to let my parents support young ones as I help myself," said Kipkirui in an interview on Saturday.
"I feel guilty when I see grown ups disturbing their parents that they should send money weekly," he added.
Kipkirui started hawking eggs, chapati and coffee to make cash immediately after joining university three years ago.
He said he started with five crates of eggs and sold all of them making a good profit at the start of his business.
This motivated him even to go for more.
"I was really motivated and I increased the crates to seven, in two months time I was dealing with fifteen crates,"said Kipkirui.
Although he says he faces a lot of challenges during his business time, he said he is determined to succeed.
He added: "In my mission to exploit more better business opportunities I moved to Nakuru town at the beginning of 2018 and started hawking cofee."
According to Kipkirui, a cup of coffee goes for Sh10 and he sells at least 25 litres everyday.
"I make a profit of about Sh900 per day, capital is about Sh550 which I use to buy coffee, sugar and plastic cups," he said.
He advised his jobless peers to take the initiative and employ themselves.
