Its a new dawn for the African continent after one of her son won the race to become the next head of the World Health Organisation(WHO).
Ethiopia's Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Tuesday, become the first African to lead the United Nation agency.
Tedros who is a former health and foreign affairs minister won by more than half of the votes in first round and defeated Britain's David Nabarro in the second round.
"It's a victory day for Ethiopia and for Africa," Ethiopia's ambassador to the U.N. in Geneva Negash Kebret Botora told Reuters .
Tedros will begin his five-year term after Margaret Chan, a former Hong Kong health director, steps down after 10 years on June 30.
