After graduating from Moi University in 2015 armed with a degree in Education Arts, Patience Khasoa expected to land a job soon after and scale the ladder in her career.
She, however, later opted to dive in the field of entrepreneurship.Being a single mother of one daughter, she was determined to start Temba Court, a company based in Eldoret that deals with tenders and agribusiness.“I got the funds to start my own business from my mother’s properties,” said Khasoa.Khasoa began her entrepreneurial journey by selling brooms at the university, as she had developed a business mind at an early age.She says that she drew inspiration from her mother who was a teacher and an entrepreneur before her demise.The 26-year-old graduate has also invested in real estate, following in the footsteps of her mother who owned several rental houses.Khasoa reveals that she also owns land in Bungoma County and in Kiminini, Trans Nzoia County.

[Photo/ Prince Charlton]“After my mother passed away, I had to step up and take the responsibility of being an elder sister in a family of five since I was the administrator of my mother’s properties. I now take care of my siblings and daughter,” said Khasoa.She said the main challenges she faces is lack of tenders and a ready market for her beans.Khasoa, who is a teacher by profession, says she has not been in class for almost four years.She, however, said it is a great joy that her businesses enable her to meet her basic needs and pay school fees for her siblings and her daughter.Khasoa said she earns around Sh780,000 from both her real estate and agribusiness.“I make Sh80,000 from the real estate which consists of five two-bedroom units and Sh700,000 from my agribusiness which helps me pay school fees for my daughter and siblings,” said Khasoa.She noted that the people close to her, especially her friends and family members, are her main source of encouragement.She intends to further her education by obtaining a master’s degree in ten years’ time.“I’ll enroll for a master’s in counseling psychology so that I can help other youth who are orphans like me,” she added.#jobprofiles
