The MPs are Millie Odhiambo (Suba North), Dr Lilian Gogo (Rangwe), Evelyn Obara (Kabondo Kasipul) and the county Woman Representative Gladys Wanga.

Despite having four elected legislators in the National Assembly, Homa Bay is also among the counties with least number of elected female Members of the County Assembly (MCAs).

The county has a total of forty words. Among the 40, only two are female; Ms Joan Minsari Ogada who is in charge of Kojwach ward and Mary Odira Ojalla for Arujo ward.

Ms Ojalla and Ms Ogada were both elected on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket.

The election of the two female ward representatives, however, represents an increase from the 2013 election where only one female was elected to the assembly.

Their election as record-breaking as this was the first time two ladies were elected to the assembly.

In 2013, Rosemary Oluoch was elected Kabuoch North MCA, hence becoming the only woman to be elected in Homabay County that year.

Ms Oluoch went on to serve as deputy chief whip in the Homabay County Assembly.
