Four candidates have so far expressed their interest in vying for Athi River town ward MCA (member of county assembly).
On Jamuhuri day, the incubent MCA for Athi River town Michael Mutua reaffirmed his ambitions of going for the Mavoko parliamentary seat. He even went ahead to introduce the four aspirants for MCA.
The four aspirants are Robert Kioki, Kelvin Nzioki (pictured), Joyce Mwende and Teresiah. Joyce Mwende seems to get along well with the women.
It seems she wants to ride on the support of women and youth. Kelvin has an upper hand in that he is a former aide of the incubent. If their past relations is anything to go by, then he is likely to be supported by Mutua.
This will mean he will enjoy some of the privileges that come with incubency! If Mutua will endorse him, then he will have an early lead.
His manifesto and campaign team will also play a crucial role. Those who are against Mutua are likely to shun him. He needs to play his cards smartly.
