Tonight, 53 young leaders across the Commonwealth countries will be awarded by the English Queen in London.
Kenyans will be happy to see one of their own, Mr. Douglas Mwangi aka Mzelo receive the 2018 Queen’s Young Leaders Award.
This award recognizes and awards exceptional young men and women from Commonwealth countries for their leadership roles and skills in their communities in a bid to transform lives.
Mr. Mwangi, who was born in Mathare got nominated as a founder of Oasis Mathare. He offers entrepreneurial and IT skills to many unemployed people around in a bid to reduce illiteracy and poverty in his community and beyond.
After emerging the best from many applicants, Mr. Mwangi was chosen to represent Kenya. He will be joining a network of 240 powerful young leaders from 53 Commonwealth countries, who are working to make the world a better place.
The aim of 2018 Queen’s Young Leaders is finding solutions to global warming issues which include, gender-based violence, climate change, food scarcity, mental health and access to education.
The event which will take place at Buckingham Palace, Her Majesty's residence, will see Prince Harry and Duchess Megan attending the event.
After the ceremony, Mr. Mwangi will visit 10 Downing Street. He will also attend BBC World Service and the UK Headquarters of Facebook for master classes.
