Two Kenyans, Ayub Ogada and his one-time band mate James Mbarack Ochieng from Kisumu have been listed to have contributed to the last album of Kanye West Omari titled “Ye”.
The two friends have been recognized as co-composers of Yikes, the second song in the album. However, this got them by surprise, as Ayub couldn’t recall how exactly he contributed to the song.
Speaking from his home in Nyahera, Kisumu County, Job Seda aka Ayub said, “I’ve done so many projects. I cannot remember everything, I cannot remember at what moment in time I did that job. People use my music to do their own projects.”
Ayub and his compatriot have done more than 150 songs. He didn’t know which among the many songs Kanye West used in composing the Yikes.
“People use my music to do their own projects,” he said in a phone interview with the Daily Nation.
More so, Ayub said that he has not been in contact with his bandmate Mbarack for nearly 10 years now. The last time they talked, Mbarack was in London.
He divulged that people have been calling him asking him to work with them in composing lyrics, creating beats or both.
“They always call me. I never call them. They call me, and then I do necessary job,” he said.
