The youthful controversial MCA announced himself in the Kisumu County politics stage early last year when he vied for the Kondele ward MCA seat.

He took the bull by its horns and defeated former MCA Gabriel Ochieng, during the ODM party nominations. The win against the incumbent propelled him to a massive win during the August 8th, 2017 general elections.

He is an ardent supporter of National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Amollo Odinga (Baba).

In September 2017, during his swearing-in, he mentioned Chief Justice David Kenani Maraga’s name. “I will do justice to all people just like Chief Justice Maraga did,” he said in reference to the Maraga led Supreme Court’s nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s win in the August 8th presidential elections.

In October last year, Swagga was arrested and arraigned in court in Kericho in connection with the disruption of training of electoral agency officials. The officials were being trained ahead of last year’s repeat presidential election.

A few days ago, Swagga alongside his two other colleagues we suspended by Kisumu County Assembly Speaker George Onyango Oloo for between 14 and 21 sittings due to what was termed as using unparliamentary language during the assembly’s un-official sitting.

The youthful MCA is yet to give an indication of his next political step, but his controversy is being seen far and wide.

On Wednesday while in Kondele, Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho famously known as Sultan confessed his admiration for Kondele Ward MCA leadership style.

The ODM deputy party leader said,” "Leo nimeona MCA amevaa kama mimi, ndevu kama mimi, shujaa wa baba kama mimi, leo nampa jina Sultan Junior (Today I have seen the MCA dressed like me, beards like me, Baba diehard like me. Today I give him the name Sultan Junior).
