Oyaro hails from Boisukia village, Bomariba ward in Kisii County.

He dropped out of school at class 6 due to poverty because his parents could not afford to pay school fees in early the 1990s.

Oyaro told Hivisasa that he was introduced into bricks making by a friend who trained him on how to model soil and make bricks in readiness for burning before selling it to customers.

"I had no option when I dropped out of school due to poverty. I joined my friend Juma Omwoyo who helped learn the craft of brick making. I trained for 3 months before I ventured on my own in the year 2000," he said.

Oyaro said he hires people's pieces of land near swampy areas where he digs, models soil and makes bricks.

"I hire soil which I model before making the bricks. Hiring a piece of land costs between Sh2500-5000 depending on the availability. Once I make bricks I wait for 3 months for them to be completely dry before I burn them. A ready burnt brick cost Sh12 meaning if I sell 10,000 that is clean Sh120,000," he said.

He noted that out of brick making, burning and selling, he has been able to buy land where he has built over 20 rental rooms at Kasarani shopping center.

Oyaro also said he is currently paying school fees for his two sons who are studying in a boarding secondary school in the Luo Nyanza.

He urged young people to venture into self-employment saying the government will not create enough jobs for all the youths in this country.
