But in what can be likened to the biblical David versus Goliath case, BOO as he fans used to call him, produced what may be categorized as one of the biggest shocks of 2017 elections as he won the Migori Senatorial seat against all odds.

With no political experience, no one gave the veteran journalist a chance and his was viewed as a gamble. In fact nobody took him seriously until when he triumphed in the ODM nominations.. From there, the seat was his to lose.

So how did the ODM 'outsider'  negotiate his way to the biggest political table and elbow the 'owners'? Well, his huge radio fan base right from his days at KBC and then Ramogi FM never disappointed him. 

So what next for Okello who holds a Masters degree from the University of Nairobi and Bachelor's degree from Moi University? 

Is he the man to watch in Migori? Being a self-made politician, is Senator Ben Oluoch headed to political greatness or will his rising political star be dimmed immediately? Time will tell.
