Dr Lillian Achieng Gogo made history in the August 2017 polls when she beat all her competitors to be the first female MP in Rangwe constituency.
Dr Gogo contested and won the seat on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.
She beat the former MP during the party primaries and eventually won the seat after garnering 23 998 votes.
Gogo is an alumnus of Kisumu Girls High school and Segere primary school.
Prior to joining politics, she served as a Lecturer, at Egerton University's Dairy and Food Technology Department.
The MP also served in various positions at the Kenya Cooperative Creameries (KCC) between 1997 and 1999.
Since 1988 to 2017, Rangwe constituency always had a male representative in the National Assembly.
The previous MPs who at one time represented the constituency include: Joseph Muga Ouma, Ray Ndong’, Shem Ochuodho, Philip Okoth Okundi, Martin Otieno Ogindo and George Oner.
