Former radio journalist Lydia Pamela Nyangala aka 'Senje' is vying for the Kakamega Women Representative seat in the upcoming August 8 elections.
'Senje" which in Luhyia means aunt, lost the primary ODM nomination and is seeking to beat incumbent Rachel Ameso.
The Amani National Congress (ANC) candidate has been working hard throughout her campaigns and expresses confidence despite losing to Ms Ameso in 2013.
Other candidates contesting for the position include Elsie Muhanda of ODM, Fatuma Osundwa of Ford Kenya, Jubilee Party's Mercy Luseno, Nancy Mudeheri (Federal Party of Kenya) and Irene Wanyonyi (Narc-Kenya).
During her rallies she has become famous for her introduction “Nisie Senje Lydia Pamela Mwana wa Papa Nyangala".
When translated means I’m auntie Lydia Pamela the daughter of Papa Nyangala.
Lydia who joined politics in 2013 after quitting vernacular radio, has managed to drum up a lot of support through her manifesto which highlighted development plans for the women and youth.
“I’m your daughter and if you give me an opportunity to serve you, I will give priority to the needs of women and youth across the twelve sub-counties,” Ms Nyangala said as reported by the Daily Nation. The aspiring women representative has entertained locals during her campaign rallies where she has be seen hiking lifts and riding on boda bodas.
