Edwin Nyabuto 27, is a known street boy in Kisii town who makes money by selling recyclable plastic waste to recycling companies.
Born in a family of five in Sironga village, Nyamira county, Nyabuto lost his parents in 2001, he had no option but moving to Kisii town to start life.
"I lost my parent and since I had no guardian I decided to join the streets to start a life," Nyabuto said.
In 2007, in desperation to make ends meet, he started collecting plastics containers and selling then to recycling companies.
"I started small with selling small plastics at Sh 200 but I now sell massive kilograms of waste plastics. I make up to Sh 40,000 in a month now," he said.
He says he is able to pay his bills including paying fees for his four brothers and supporting other streets boys.
"I am able to pay my brothers' school fees, employ other street boys and save for future use," he said.
However, he has faced various challenges including discrimination due to his 'dirty' job and harassment by county askaris.
"The youths should be unique and be hardworking. Nothing comes easy in this world. All you need is passion and determination," Nyabuto said.
