With Kenya still, a long way to go in footballing terms as far as the World Cup is concerned, local fans have shifted patriotism to various nations as the tournament hots up.
But perhaps every Kenyan should be supporting the Swedish national team, considering there is one particular player who has his roots right here in Kenya.
His link to Kenya is not far-fetched as Olsson is born of a Swedish dad and a mother whose origin is in Murang'a hence the player's Kikuyu name, WaikwaNot only that, he also has a twin brother, Marcus, who plays for Derby County in the English second tier.
The two brothers also share a sister, Jessica Olsson, who has the closest resemblance to their mother.
Jessica was in the country in January 2017 to tie the knot with her boyfriend – a German professional basketball player Dirk Nowitzki.
The traditional wedding ceremony was held in Nanyuki and was attended by both Kenyan and German guests.
It was the second of two wedding ceremonies from the couple who wedded in 2012. Despite being part of the crucial 22-man Swedish squad, Olsson is yet to make an official appearance, with the manager preferring to start Ludwig Augustinsson who plays his football for German outfit Werder Bremen.
