A gospel track called ‘kama pupu’ has caused a stir in the Kenyan music industry.
The controversial song talks about how you should not entertain the devil but instead he should be flushed away like poop because he smells.
‘Kama pupu’ has received tones of criticism with the majority insinuating that the not so popular artiste chose the title and message as cheap attention seeking and marketing drill for him and his future projects. The official video to the song also enjoys a good number of views since its release two weeks ago.
Kennedy Liech who goes by the stage name Kennon is the brains behind the song. He is a born-again Christian, gospel artist and producer who says he started doing music officially in 2013 but has loved it since he was young.
“Kama pupu a simple self-explanatory song, meaning how worthless the devil is only if we seek God and be filled by the Holy Spirit then we’ll have the power to trade of serpent and scorpions. Luke 10:19” Kennon explains during an interview with Hivisasa on what inspired him to write the song.
He also goes ahead to state that his reason for doing the song is to send the message in a way that the youth and kids can relate to because times have changed.
As to why he chose to present the message in such a controversial manner the “High note music” label owner attributes his preference to “putting things straight” and his dislike for “sugar coating things”.
The self-proclaimed preacher radical preacher also goes on to castigate ministers for overspreading the message of prosperity but forget to tell people what he calls the “naked truth”.
