Having been a low-profile man during his tenure as Migori MP, very few people know Charles Owino Oyugi- Likowa.
During his heydays, the former MP was seen as a smart political operator after sending home a veteran during the 2002 election.
However, 15 years later, the former lawmaker finds himself in an awkward political position.
Being a master in the game, Likowa was the favourite to win the seat for the second term. But it was not to be as he lost to a former teacher, John Pesa.
Likowa would spend the next five years in the cold. He plotted to make a political comeback in 2013 but once again lost to another debutante in Junet Mohammed, the man who managed his campaigns in 2002 before he was nominated as a councillor.
With his political career hanging on balance, the former lawmaker took another gamble by joining the race for Migori Senator in 2017.
However, he never made it to the ballot as he dropped out of the race to support impeached Migori County Assembly speaker Gordon Ogolla.
Now facing uncertain political times, it remains unclear whether the once promising MP will try to mount another comeback in 2022.
