Mbugua, joined the business one year before completing his studies after he realised there was shortage of job for graduates.

“I did not want to tarmac as other graduate do and so I had to come up with an idea on how to make money and therefore I joined the boda boda sector," he said.

With passion in making ends meet, he got employed as a boda boda rider where he would deliver Sh400 per day to the owner and pocket the rest. It through this memorandum of understanding that he makes Sh1,000 per day after all the required deductions and expenses.

“From this boda boda industry, I was able to clear my university fee and since I started this job, I do not see the need of getting employed. I will instead start my own research company after my savings are enough,” he said.

Mbugua admitted that the industry needs a lot of carefulness and disciplined for one to succeed as there are many challenges involved in the industry which include; harassment from county askaris, bad weather and exposure to accidents.

“My advice to the youth is simple. They should just be unique and accept their hustles. Kazi ni kazi,” he concluded.
