Taveta MP Naomi Shabaan has gone into the books of history as the longest serving female member of parliament.
The vocal politician defied stiff competition and wave of the National Super Alliance (NASA) at the Coastal region to beat all her opponents during August General elections.
Shabaan will be serving the people of Taveta constituency for his fourth time. Addressing legislators at the parliamentary buildings, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi heaped praise on her for setting a new record in the house.
The lawmaker has been very vocal when it comes to matters of national interest. The politician, a dentist by profession, was elected on Jubilee Party ticket.
Shabaan had written a resignation from Jubilee before she made a U turn following consultation talks with the top brass.
“Due to unavoidable circumstances, I wish to resign from Jubilee Party,” “I will no longer be vying for the Taveta constituency seat under the Jubilee Party umbrella,” her letter partly read.
Shabaan attended Butere Girls High school (1980-1981) before transferring to Bura Girl's High School (1976-1979). After completing high school, she enrolled at the University of Nairobi in 1988.
