The success of the governor should, however, not be credited to him alone but also to his deputy Daniel Kiprotich Chemno who runs most of the errands in the county.

Chemno first entered into politics in 2007 when he unsuccessfully vied for the then Eldoret East parliamentary seat on a United Democratic Movement (UDM) ticket where he finished second behind Prof. Magret Kamar.

In 2013, he was picked by Mandago to be his running mate and together they won the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial contest to become the pioneers.

Following their win, Chemno hit the ground running and ensured that promises listed in Mandago's manifesto were implemented.

One of the best traits that have helped the Deputy Governor successfully run the devolved unit is his strictness which makes the county staff on toes always.

His over twenty years experience in the management and academic sector has also provided him with the necessary skills required to serve as the county's number two.

Chemno is a graduate of the University of  Eastern Africa Baraton and the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies in the Philippines where he took his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Business management respectively.

He is a trained teacher and taught for over two decades prior to joining politics.

The staunch Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) boasts of a high level of integrity.

With Mandago's term set to expire in 2022, Chemno will have a nice opportunity to clinch the seat
