Renowned Minister in Mzee Jomo Kenyatta's government Tom Mboya was assassinated on 5 July 1969 in Nairobi.
Mboya was fatally shot by a lone gun man on Moi avenue as he was leaving a chemist.
His murder caused tension in the country. One man, however, witnessed the assassination of the late trade unionist.
Obama Sr, the father of former United States President Barrack Obama witnessed the murder of Tom Mboya and was among the witnesses who testified in the case.
During his testimony in court, Obama Sr explained how Mboya was assassinated and even provided the name of the alleged assassin.
On the day of Mboya's murder, the two met at Channi's pharmacy after the trade unionist had returned from a summit in Ethiopia.
At the chemist, Obama Sr joked on how Mboya had parked the car wrongly, adding that he risked getting a ticket from the city council.
Mboya laughed and walked to the pharmacy only to be shot dead.
Obama Sr was the last man to interact with the late Mboya before he met his death.
